North Atlantic Brass har en klar mission: at styrke og forny den danske messingtradition. Med afsæt i en rig musikalsk arv og en passion for kammermusik skaber kvintetten koncerter, der bringer messingmusikken tættere på publikum – fra det inderlige og lyriske til det kraftfulde og strålende.
Med fem erfarne messingblæsere fra Danmark og Island optræder North Atlantic Brass jævnligt med Det Kongelige Kapel, DR Symfoniorkestret og Copenhagen Phil. De har desuden vundet 1. pris ved Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition og Ryan Anthony Memorial Competition i 2024.
Repertoiret spænder fra tidlig musik og klassiske mesterværker til nordiske toner og nyere kompositioner, skræddersyet til rum, akustik og publikum. North Atlantic Brass skaber koncerter, hvor musikken får plads til at ånde, resonere og fortælle.

Gunnar Kristinn Óskarsson (IS)
Trumpet
Gunnar has played with many orchestras in his career, such as the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Danish Orchestra, Copenhagen Phil, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, and as a soloist with The Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
Frederik Treu Pehrsson (DK)
Trumpet
In 2019 Frederik started his studies in trumpet performance at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Frederik has been participating in the Jeunesse Musicale project “Encore: new ways in classical music” since 2019. When he is not playing in the brass quintet he is teaching and performing as a trumpet player in various settings.
Esben Stig Rasmussen (DK)
Horn
Esben has played with many orchestras such as the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Danish Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra and Copenhagen Phil.
Gunnar Helgason (IS)
Trombone
Gunnar Helgason is the group´s Trombone player. Gunnar is studying at the Royal Danish Academy of music where he studies with Jesper Juul and Torbjörn Kroon. Gunnar regularly plays as a substitute player in the Royal Danish Orchestra, The Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Icelandic symphony orchestra.
Theodor Djursaa Hvidt (DK)
Tuba
Theodor Matthias Djursaa Hvidt Is the group's tuba player and is studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. He has previously been a member of the Royal Danish Navy Band and regularly plays as an assistant for Prinsens Musikkorps, Livgardes Musikkorps and Copenhagen Phil.
